Expat Experience:  My expat experiences began more than two decades ago. My first experience was in Bogota, Colombia with a non-profit group. After working in South America, I leveraged that international experience into working as an expat consultant on development issues on the African continent. Later, I was recruited to work in Europe with an economic and social policy agency, and more recently, I worked with an international development finance agency in Latin America and the Caribbean. I’ve had the good fortune of living and working in multiple countries and have learned a lot from every experience.

Languages Spoken:  English, French, Spanish

Life Experience:  I’ve always believed that diversity is the spice of life. As such, I’ve sought to make my life as diverse as possible in terms of my work, friends, activities, and even where I live. It’s those diverse experiences that have taught me that life is not meant to be lived in one speed; sometimes we’re meant to walk, sometimes we’re meant to run, and other times, we should just stand still. Most importantly, we should reach out to others along the way, putting into practice the American proverb “each one, teach one.”

Accomplishments:  I’ve coached a young diplomat going into foreign service for their country for the first time, seasoned international executives from major corporations wanting to return home, and recent graduates who’ve developed successful international careers in the IT or financial services sector in emerging markets.  What they all have in common is a combination of fear and excitement about their future. Both feelings intensify when you add in an international move.  I focus on how far they’ve come, to help them see how far they can go.  I’m amazed each time someone I worked with years ago, still remembers some coaching tip I shared with them. This means somewhere along the way, just maybe, I made a difference.

What I Love About Working in This Niche:  Supporting globetrotting professionals to develop satisfying international careers abroad.

Coaching Style:  On bridging the gap between where clients are now and where they want to be.

Favorite Coaching Tool:  FACS=Focused Action brings Change and Success.

Why Clients Choose Me As Their Coach:  I’ve been in their shoes. With experience working on four continents, and traveling in over 50 countries, I can relate to where they are, and how to adjust to where they’re going.

A Tip for My Niche:   Aim to work with clients who reflect your same level of commitment to professionalism, service, and success, no matter where in the world they are.
