Hi Heather, Marie and all the team – I just want to congratulate you on the look and feel of this great website – professional, inviting, dynamic I think it gives the association a great feel. The Membership options are great – moved on since we last talked Marie but gives flexibility for peoples different needs. Congrats and I look forward to a great future for this association.

    Hello,

I have a lot of experience as expat and coach, but no formal training or diploma. And I speak 6 languages.
Would you recommend for my future as an Expat coach to be certified?

I would like to become a member but I need to be a certified coach, is that correct?
So I need to find a training course that is accredited, correct?

If yes, where would you recommend that I study, I found ICA, but it is expensive. Any other recommendations? I search English and online as I work full time.

thank you so much for guiding me further.

    Greetings ,
    Rachel

Hi Rachel – I replied to you on email, hope the information helped! As we are not a school, unfortunately we cannot answer all your questions, but I am sure the International Coach Federation will be a great resource for you until you’re ready to explore membership with us!

I am in the same situation, I am a tck, and have a lot of experiences abroad. What are the terms for certification? What are the steps I need to take in order to be an expat coach? Cheers

Hi Miranda. To become a coach, of any kind, you first need to take a program to become certified. I suggest you visit http://www.coachfederation.org for a list of schools around the globe that offer accredited training programs. Then, after you are certified, you would pick a niche/specialty. Our coaches typically have been an Expat in the past, or, are currently Expats, and are very familiar with the experience, personally, of living in another culture, and bring that expertise to their coaching. If you are a TCK, then that probably means you’d be a great coach for other TCK’s after you take your coaching program!

Hi Rachel – I’m the founder of the Expat Coach Association, and reviewed your question and my answer with some of the ladies that help me run it, and I think we were in agreement with my answers to you, but if anyone has more to say, I’m sure they will!
